You need to sell your home but with the Holidays so close you’ve put your plans on hold because you’ve been told that nobody will buy a home at this time of year. Maybe you need to revisit that thought and consider the followings:

  • With fewer homes for sale at this time of the year the serious buyers have to be more competitive in their search. That could mean more money for you.
  • If you sell now and look to buy in the Spring you will have the advantage of selling high and buying low when more homes are competing for the market.
  • Because you sell now doesn’t mean that you have to move now. You can request a delayed closing.
  • With your home on the market you can ask to withhold showings the days around Christmas and New Year and then resume in between when the house is not so busy with family and companies.
  • Buyers have more time to shop for a home during the holidays as they may have time off.
  • Some people need to buy before the end of the year for tax purposes.
  • People being transferred to this area for a job would most likely start a new job in the New Year therefore needing to buy before the end of the year.
  • Buying a home is very emotional and a home decorated for the Holidays shows better and is more appealing.
  • Serious Buyers have fewer homes to look at so your competition is greatly reduced.
  • Those looking to buy a home during the Holidays are serious Buyers and not just window shoppers.

  1. Great entry to your blog! Right on point!

  2. It is a great time to sell a house – we totally agree. The key things we stress for sellers is ensuring that the holiday decorating stay simple and tasteful throughout the holidays. While these decorations can warm up a room, they can also close it in so it’s all about balance, harmony and space.
